The People

We’re a homegrown group. Starting small as student movers-for-hire, we helped friends, neighbors and others in our community. It’s because of them that we’re where we are today. Bringing that same mindset towards community involvement to Gainesville, we were able to grow along with the community. Now we’ve brought that same commitment to Tampa. We’re so happy to be a part of these two great areas.

We’ve made so many great connections with the people of these communities and we’d like to give a big “Thank You” to all who’ve helped us grow.

Tampa Named One of America’s Best Up-and-Coming Cities

America’s Up-and-Coming Cities

Since 2004, the popular online review platform Yelp has been collecting and recording a massive array of data; tracking consumer trends, business openings, user reviews and other business information; which they’ve scrupulously analyzed and compiled as a part of their recently launched Local Economic Outlook program.

Using this data, Yelp recently released their list of the top 50 up-and-coming cities in the U.S. The list ranks cities based on economic opportunity and growth.

Coming in at number seven is none other than the Cigar City itself.

That’s right, it’s Tampa’s time in the spotlight. It may have been a long time coming – with a lot of hard work – but Tampa is finally earning national recognition for being a great place to live and work.

More and more – including major industries – are finding Tampa and the bay area a desirable place to be. Tampa is beginning to attract a diverse and vibrant economy. And what’s not to love? Tampa Ranks as One of the ‘Best Foodie Cities’ in America!

WalletHub recently released its 2017 list of best cities in America for finding good food. The list rated cities based on the accessibility, diversity and affordability and quality of their food options.

Just missing the top 10 cut, Tampa comes in at #11 on the list of best foodie cities in America! And the #11 is nothing to snuff at – Tampa beat out well-established foodie cities like Chicago and Philadelphia for a top spot. It even beat out its sister city across the bay, St. Petersburg (#91)!

Know Your Neighborhood: South Tampa

A Tampa institution, redefined. If you lived in Tampa back in the day (1925-2005 to be exact), you probably remember Goody Goody. The classic burger joint was a hot spot for locals day or night.

After closing in 2005, many thought the fresh, unique taste of a Goody Goody Burger would be gone forever. However, Good Sir Knight Gonzmart (that’s Richard Gonzmart, of Colombia Restaurant & Ulele) felt it was time to bring it back. Goody Goody was officially reopened in 2016, to much fanfare.

Now, you can get your taste of Tampa history anytime you want!

Know Your Neighborhood: Tampa Heights

Tampa Heights is one of Tampa’s oldest neighborhoods. Centrally located and steeped in history, Tampa Heights has been enjoying a recent resurgence of interest.

Some of Tampa’s hottest food and drink spots are situated in Tampa Heights. The neighborhood is also an easy distance from the downtown core, Ybor and Seminole Heights allowing for plenty of things to do.

Here some things to know about the neighborhood if you’re planning a move to Tampa Heights.

Food and Drinks

Tampa Heights has a flourishing foodie scene. Tons of great restaurants and bars call this neighborhood home. Here are some of our favorites:

Opened 2014, Ulele has become one of the hottest spots in Tampa – for its fabulous food and in-house brews and its prime location. Ulele sits not only on the Hillsborough Riverfront, but it also shares its property with a natural spring (from which the restaurant gets its namesake), providing an unparalleled dining backdrop.

Ulele is another concept by Richard Gonzmart’s Columbia Restaurant Group (Goody Goody’s, Columbia), so you know the food is great. They  focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients – with a preference towards local, when possible – to bring their flavors.

With in-house microbrews, signature cocktails and homemade ice cream, Ulele is a perfect spot for dining, happy hour or desert.

Just down the street from Ulele is Hidden Springs Ale Works. A cornerstone of the N. Franklin St. refurbishment project, Hidden Springs is serving up awesome craft brews that reflect the funky charm and culture of Tampa Heights.

They also have a rotating list of guest taps as well as bottled beverages and wines.

One of Tampa Heights’ hidden gems. Nestled on a quiet, shaded corner on Central Ave., Lee’s Grocery offers handcrafted pizza and craft brews in a hip, casual setting.

Despite its low-key appearance, Lee’s has been a vital part of the Tampa Heights community. It’s history as a neighborhood grocery store for migrant works dates back to the 1880’s! Though it’s since been converted into an eatery, it keeps the original name.

A great place to stop in for a beer and, if you’re hungry, this is seriously some of the best pizza you’ll have in Tampa. You can even by beers-to-go; their cooler has an extensive collection of local, regional and national craft beers, ciders and meades.

History

Tampa Heights is one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. This is still reflected today in the homes and businesses that make up this neighborhood.

You’re sure to find Old Florida charm among the oak trees and bungalows. Tampa Heights also has a high concentration of historic landmarks and structures:

Woodlawn Cemetery

Tampa’s 2nd oldest and its largest, Woodlawn sits in the middle of Tampa Heights. It is open to the public and features headstones dating back to Tampa’s founding.

Pre-century, red-brick structures can be found scattered throughout the neighborhood. Some of the most beautiful examples of this architecture are found in the historic churches found around Tampa Heights.
