History of West Meadows
The area where West Meadows is today, northeast of Tampa, was farmland throughout most of the 20th century, with rural, two-lane roads and houses scattered among the farmland. The neighborhood of West Meadows grew up as part of the suburban expansion of Tampa back in the 1990s to the area, which became known as New Tampa. West Meadows was built near Bruce B Downs Road, which has become a major thoroughfare in New Tampa. The neighborhood is close to everything, including many major restaurant and retail chains, as well as unique, local shops and places to eat. Supermarkets, schools, theaters, and churches are also nearby, yet West Meadows is hidden away from the busy roads and is a very quiet place to live.
