Baldwin Park started as the Orlando Army Air Station in 1942. Five years later, Orlando Army Air Station became the Naval Training Center Main Base. The Federal Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) made the Naval Training Center close in July 1993. Then, the City of Orlando spent 11 months coming up with a Base Reuse Plan. Six years later, Orlando purchased the property and sold it to one developer. They did this because the redevelopment would create 200 acres of parks and 250 acres of lakes.
